Talk about smothering defense! The Carson High freshman basketball team put up a number that any football defense would envy en route to a 57-7 win at the State Farm Holiday Classic on Tuesday in Reno. Rafe King scored 17 points to lead the way offensively at Damonte Ranch High as the Senators advanced to the tournament consolation finals. Carson faces Douglas Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. in the consolation final at Damonte Ranch.Casey Wolfe and Charles Banfield contributed 6 points each and Michael Bass 5 for the Senators. Carson absorbed its first loss of the season, 49-38 against McQueen in the tournament's opening round on Saturday, then rebounded to beat Wooster on Monday, 62-43. Sage Smith scored 14 points, Zac Hudson 12, Jacob McClelland 10 and King 9 to lead a balanced offense in the Wooster game. Jay LaNuza scored 12 points and Smith 10 in the loss on Saturday against undefeated McQueen. |
