Ty Keefer and Chance Quilling provided clutch performances down the stretch as the Carson High junior varsity boys basketball team held off Galena 50-46 on Friday afternoon at Morse Burley Gymnasium.
CHS trailed 25-23 at halftime, but outscored Galena 14-7 in the third quarter to take a 37-32 lead. Keefer hit some key baskets down the stretch to keep CHS ahead and Quilling hit 3-of-4 free throws to seal the win. Keefer scored 18 points and Matt Galvan hit four three-pointers on his way to scoring 14 points. Quilling added seven points. FRESHMAN BOYS Rafe King scored 15 points to help lead the Carson High freshman boys basketball team to its win at Galena. Jay Lanuza also scored seven points and Ethan Spence six as the Senators improved their perfect league record to 12-0 (19-1 overall). The Senators have won 14 straight games. Carson led 8-4 after one quarter and extended the spread to 25-13 at halftime. |
