The Carson High girls soccer team opens its season tonight at Reno High in a rematch of last year's Northern 4A Regional Tournament opening round.
A 7 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Foster Field, preceded by the junior varsity game at 5.

Whether he's on a mat or in a cage, former Douglas High wrestler C.J. Keith has proven to be a formidable competitor.
Keith, who placed second in his 152-pound weight class at the 4A state wrestling tournament as a senior at Douglas in 2004, improved his mixed martial arts career record to 7-0 with a big victory at Tule River Reservation in California this past Friday night. Keith prevailed over Dustin Arden (11-8) when the 170-pound bout was stopped at 3 minutes, 24 seconds of the second round before a packed house during "The Warriors Cage 9, The Perfect Storm" at Eagle Mountain Casino.

If you were to ask Kevin Fallon, his primary goal as coach of the Carson High boys tennis program is to teach the game and see his players to carry those lessons with them through the rest of their lives.
And with a nucleus of solid returnees from last year, the Senators are looking forward to having success on the court this fall during a season that opens on Tuesday with a match at McQueen. There's good cause to be optimistic, according to coach Kevin Fallon, who is entering his third season with the program and had a previous stint as Carson's coach in the 1990s.
